The shirt colour changes how a design reads from across a room. Here is how to pick one with confidence.
DTF works on light and dark shirts
DTF transfers print a layer of white ink behind the colours, so a design looks just as bright on a black or navy shirt as on a white one. You are choosing for style and contrast, not for what the printer can do.
Think contrast first
- Dark designs (navy, black, deep red) stand out on white, sand, sport grey and royal.
- Light or bright designs stand out on black, navy, dark heather, forest green and maroon.
- Avoid matching tones, such as a navy design on a navy shirt, unless you want a quiet, tone-on-tone look.
The basic colours most groups choose
Black, white, navy, sport grey, dark heather, red, royal, maroon, forest green and sand cover almost every reunion, team and event; they are the colours Canadian print shops stock most. Tees come in all ten, hoodies and crewnecks in the first eight. Sport grey and dark heather are forgiving with lint and small stains; black and navy look sharp in photos; white and sand show colourful designs best.
Ordering for a group
Pick one colour per design so everyone matches, or let each person choose from two colours that both suit the design. You can mix sizes and colours of the same design in one order, from S up to 3XL.
