What is a DTF gang sheet?

Wide-format printer printing a long sheet

A gang sheet is one long sheet of DTF transfers with as many designs on it as will fit. You pay for the length of the sheet, not for each design, which is why it is the cheapest way to buy transfers for more than a few shirts.

How DTF printing works

DTF stands for direct-to-film. Your artwork is printed in colour onto a clear PET film, with a layer of white ink behind it. A powder adhesive is added and cured, and the result is a transfer you can store until you need it. To use it, you press it onto a garment with a heat press and peel the film away. The white layer keeps colours bright on dark fabric, so one transfer type works on light and dark shirts.

Why gang sheets save money

  • One fixed width, any length. Our sheets are 22 inches wide; you choose how long they are.
  • Mix anything. Different designs, sizes and quantities can share one sheet.
  • Longer costs less per inch. The more you fit on one sheet, the lower the cost per design.

How much fits on a sheet?

A full-front design is usually about 11 × 12 inches, so two fit side by side across a 22-inch sheet. That means a 22 × 60 inch sheet holds about ten full-front designs, or dozens of small left-chest logos. Smaller designs can be packed tightly; leave a little space between them so they are easy to cut apart.

Three ways to fill one

  1. Upload a ready sheet if you have already arranged your designs on a 22-inch-wide PNG.
  2. Build it in the sheet builder: upload designs, drag and size them, and watch the length and price update.
  3. Auto-fill: add your designs with how many of each, and the builder packs them onto the shortest sheet that fits.
